Filming an Anonymous Interview

Last Friday I was contacted by Olivia Bolton on the Telegraph Video News Desk to see if I was free on Saturday to shoot and edit (in a same day turnaround) an exclusive story that had been developed by news reporter Bill Gardner. I ended up filming an anonymous interview with an abuse victim who alleges that a confidant close to Margret Thatcher raped him, and the police covered the crime up.

The lighting set-up was minimal to say the least. I had a LED light just off to the side of the interviewee for extra fill on the background but I mainly allowed the light from the window to keep him entirely backlit. Finally, I chose to further augment this in Adobe Premiere to fully eliminate any possibility of the interviewee being identified.

Overall it was shot and cut simply allowing the victim to tell his story without opinion or agenda.
